All face-to-face guitar lessons are delivered with essential consideration given to the health and well-being of both the student and myself. They are conducted under the guidelines and laws as laid down by The Health & Safety Executive (HSE), UK & Welsh governments to ensure regulation and enforcement of workplace health, safety and welfare.

Am I Vaccinated?

Yes, I am fully vaccinated and will continue to take all available boosters that are offered to me.

Do I Test Myself Regularly?

Yes, I undertake regular COVID-19 lateral flow tests

Do I Suffer from any Other Transferable Illnesses?

No, I am fortunate to have a clean bill of health

Will I Inform Students if I test Positive?

I will notify and suspend all lessons until totally safe to restart

Key COVID-19 Safety Principles

1. Identify what work activity or situations might cause transmission of the virus

2. Think about who could be at risk

3. Decide how likely it is that someone could be exposed

4. Act to remove the activity or situation, or if this is not possible, control the risk

What to Expect During Face-to-Face Lessons

The following conditions will be adhered to with every effort made so as not to spoil the enjoyment of the lesson:

  • Students will be expected to tune their own guitars under my supervision which is a skill that any student player should acquire

  • There will be minimal physical contact

  • Level of ventilation will depend on prevailing weather conditions

  • Anti-bacterial hand wash will be available

  • Contact areas will be cleaned following a lesson

  • Suitable but practical safe-distancing will be observed during the lesson

Other Things to Consider...

Unless deemed necessary, it advised that all students undertake the lesson to reduce any risk (young children may the obvious exceptions).

It is important to note that the teaching of guitar is considered a lower risk than the teaching of singing, or brass and woodwind instruments.

To provide an environment that can be classified as comparatively safe, I would strongly advise the following to be considered in addition to the above:

Students are advised to take a COVID flow-test before attending a lesson

Minimum guitar equipment to brought to a lesson (electric guitar amplifier will be supplied)

Are you or any of your recent contacts displayed symptoms of COVID?

Are there health issues that I should know about?

* Please note that all lessons are undertaken at the student’s own risk *
